i want to repaint my brakes. what would be the best way to strip the old paint of. i was thinking of

using sandpaper to do it

Brake cleaner from Pepboys or A&A Auto would work.

U should not need to strip all the paint off. Just

rough the area up using a wire brush or sand paper. I usually clean it then with laquer thinner then paint them. Brake cleaner will not take the paint off. It will get rid of the crap and let the paint adhere.

I thought your dad said something to me if you use it to clean the dust it might take off paint too.

Carb Cleaner will take paint off.

Brake cleaner will take paint off if it was just painted. But after it sets up and hardens will not remove it. I can demonstrate tonight on your car. :P
