Nice quote, "what you do as an undergrad is typically more important than where you go."

Default what were your SAT scores? just curious?

I realize that these boards are based on computer-friendly people that like well engineered, expensive cars, so that alone might put the SAT average here above national average. but I'm just curious how yours were that you're saying hers are low. I'm not familiar with USD, but if it's a normal State University, I can't imagine that super high SAT scores are a requirement.

I really should change "typically" to "almost always". There are exeptions, but not many.

Default Dan i know what your saying...

My family has 1 thing going for us, we are agressive. In many cases that has got all of us where we are today. Since thats the area that we shine in, it makes sense that we need to put forth the effort to get her into that school. With a little work ethic, one can do anything. I am a firm believer in that.

Default advice

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

-Robert Frost

moral of the story? It really doesn't matter where you go to college - what matters is how you find and take advantage of opportunities.

I wish I'd known this when I applied to schools...

Default 1250 or so, back in '94 before the recentering, but I had a 32 or 33 on my ACT.

I was NOT happy with my SAT score and it bugs me to this day. I don't know why, it's a metric that means nothing at this point in my life. Nonetheless, I wish I had done better.

Just remember, sometimes too aggressive can come back to haunt. Regardless, best of luck! :-)

Maybe "Can do" type of attitude would be a better discription.
