If i am swaping my M-box ECU into an H-box car can i do the cluster recode in my car?

Default so, you have proven your cut and past skillz - can you actually answer the question.

Read the whole post.

Does the code sit resident in the ECU or in the actual cars cluster.

Default It's already been answered several times.

You are recoding the instrument cluster module, not the engine control module. Therefore, you have three options:

1) Ship your vag-com to the person requiring the recode
2) Have that person ship their instrument cluster to you
3) Or three, tell them to stop being a cheapskate and to just buy a vag-com cable

Default I understand - i was giving nyet a hard time for being cranky. thanks for the response.

FWIW i read the wiki site and searched before asking this question.

I didn't know if the cluster informatin was stored in the cluster or in the ECU - call me stupid - not an electrical engineer.
