If I get the APR EMCS chip with Fault Code Erase should I still get a VAG tool?

What else does the VAG tool do that a non-mechanic type would find useful? TIA
I'm still stock, but starting to plan the mods.

with the APR EMCS. It's a nice feature....but the reality is that you should never bring a chipped car to the dealer.

I'm better off with a second ECU. If that's the case I'll be switching the ECUs when taking the car into the dealer and using the VAG tool to clear the fault code(s).
Now I'm not sure if I need the EMCS functionality at all?

The real reason to get VAG is to clear the low power code and do a TBA when you put your stock chip back in.
