If K&N bad for MAF why do reputable shops sell it for S4?

It's probably hard to see, but there is a heat shield there. It's much cooler than before.

Default An A4 (Just_A4) guy that makes them for those cars did this tester on mine.

I don't have his info here, but I can get it tomorrow if you would like. He was planning to make them for sale and they were designed to work with the stock airbox as well. Man the box would get HOT before, so I think it would be worth it even if you didn't have an open filter myself.

Default K&N doesn't make any power in the B5 S4 over stock paper filter. [more]

It does however pay for itself over time since it's a lifetime filter. As long as it's not over oiled by the person cleaning it, it's not a threat the MAF sensor. People have a negative view of the K&N panel filter because it doesn't make more power than a stock paper filter and hasn't been proven to outflow a stock filter either.

That doesn't mean it shouldn't be made available to those that just want to save some money over time by not paying for a new stock paper filter at every major service interval. Right?

In the three years since Streetwerke opened, I don't think we've sold more than five B5 S4 K&N panel filters out of the dozens and dozens of S4s we've serviced.
