My experience with PC is that while durable, it still scratches and shows marks just as easy as paint, it is just harder to get all the way through it and it better for corrosion protection. Dont waste the money, plus with paint you can get exactly the color you want, while PC is usually picking from the colors they have.

if you were talking just the centers then I would say do the P-Coat.
However, if you are doing the whole wheel, I would stick to painting. If you ever tag a wheel, it is an overnight job to have them reparied..fix the offended spot(s), repaint and you're rolling.
If you tag a P-Coated wheel, the P-Coat will have to be stripped from the entire wheel, the repairs made and then it needs to be P-Coated again... Added cost, complexity and time.

Center charges $150 PER wheel, IIRC.
And you're saying that powdercoating a SET only costs $450?
Those seem like low prices to me.

I have heard powder coating a wheel is a bad idea. If a crack develops in the painted wheel the crack will be transmitted through the paint making the crack visable. However since powder coating is typically more pliable the crack will not develop in the coating and is not visible.
Just my 2 cents.
