Default I'm having problems

My VAG won't communicate w/ my car. We tried using Daryl's VAG and it works fine w/ his laptop.

I don't have any background programs running, nor do I have an 'sync' programs running.

The attached image are the errors I get when 'testing' the VAG to see if it connects.

The left side of the image is VAG 311-2. The first error is COM1. The bottom left error is COM3.

The right side of the image is VAG 303-1. The first error is COM1. The bottom right error is COM3.

Any idea guys?

Default Do you have a Pocket PC? If you do....

it's ActiveSync not releasing the COM port on your laptop. Go into ActiveSync Connections Settings (under file menu) and uncheck "Allow serial cable or COM port" option.

Worked for me.

Check your cable. I had the same problem, found some of the wires broke off the serial connector.

Default I did a search for ActiveSync on my computer

and it found something. But I don't see any program under "Start>Programs". What's the program called?

If it is activesync it may block the usb as well. There is also an option for usb.

Default Sorry. I didn't look closely at the error messages. It looks like it is seeing the COM port ...

but not the VAG tool. Might be your adapter or the cable as 808Guy mentioned.

Did you try using your adapter/cable with their laptop?

Try posting this on the VAG-COM forum if you haven't already.

Have you tried completely uninstalling the drivers for the VAG and reinstalling them?
