That's what I'm thinking. Probably broke some carbon free of the valves/pistons.

Default Call Rick at the Broadway Auto Clinic. He's done a few Aquamist installs.

Correct. You could also have big carbon deposits that will need to be fished out of the cylinders.

Default It seems possible that the carbon theory is valid...

The car didn't do it again... Maybe this carbon deposit theory is valid.

I plan to run some quantitative tests soon with VAG-COM... Problem is to do several runs under the same conditions (temperature, etc) and have the ECU adapts to the aquamist...

Some ideas:
i) No Aquamist
ii) Aquamist running plain water
iii) Aquamist running 35% methanol / 65% Water

FATS (4200 - 6500rpm Timing - 3rd gear log)
Ignition Timing Graph
Intake/Exhaust Temperatures
etc.

Default Some other things you might want to try and record would be (m)

the temperature of your water supply. How much affect does a cold reservoir, ice filled, have versus one that is at ambient temps. How much water does the system consume. Try to determine how much the pump is running and how much water is left after you finish your tests.
