Default So when they break, is it just the latch ripping out of the weave?

As opposed to the latch on the car breaking...

I assume they fly open because they are so light?

might i suggest, dzus fasteners instead of pins? same concept just much more low profile

Default I would assume they fly open because the bond between the stock latch and the CF isnt

as good as the bond (weld?) between the metal hood and the stock latch, hence the latch w/ a metal hood can sustain more force.

Im guessing also that the hood wants to fly open because of the pressure differential. The pressure on top of the hood at speeds >100MPH would be much less than that under the hood (engine bay) hence a net pressure (force) up on the hood.

Same forces on each hood then, but the latch mechanism works better with a metal hood.

just speculation of course.

cuz it sure as hell aint stock
