Installed KW Variant 1 coilovers yesterday, and as promised here is a reveiw on them.
I Purchased them from Hpa motorsports few weeks back when they had the sale going on, finally got them last Friday a couple of weeks late. Never order anything like this right before a SEMA show lesson learned! They were cool about it though they offered to refund the shipping.
Any way I took it to get it installed, and told the shop I wanted them to set it at the highest setting so that it would only lower it about .75 inches all the way around as I was told by HPA. Well they installed it and once they were done, the care was .5" higher in the front, and 1.5" higher on the back! so they had to bring it back down quite a bit, cost me an extra $50. I ended up setting the front to 25.5" and the back to 25.75" which is lowering the car 1" all the way around from the stock 26.5 front and 26.75 rear. The car looks great, but it is a little lower on the front than I would like, only time will tell.
Now as for the ride, I am in love! I thought that the handling of the stock setup was decent, just too much body roll. It was so annoying when I make a left turn a little to fast (even taking off quick from a dead stop) there was so much body roll. It just felt like the handling was not up to par with the cars power (no chip). Well now the body roll is gone! Disappeared! Now it's down right amazing! I feel much more confidant taking corners faster, and my wife notices it less to!
I was really concerned about how the ride would feel. I had heard that the KW's were harsher than H&R streets, and some even sold their KW because of that. Well I was pleasantly surprised by the bump response too! I even go as far as saying I like it better than stock! Of course, I always prefer a firmer ride anyway. But I don't really think it is noticeably harsher than stock. One thing that is interesting though is that it seems that smaller bumps are a little more noticeable and audible. But that could be the Michelin Pilot Alpins I installed. I have to say that I am very impressed with the whole setup. It's a lot of money, 950 for coilovers, 250 for install, 100 for alignment, but overall I think it is the best Mod you can do, considering the headaches the 'other' mods can create with warranty and turbos!

As a side note, I am really impressed with the Alpins. Here is a quick review on them.
I got the 205-50-hr17, which is 1.25mm taller than the stock! Barely noticable, but almost 100 less than the stock size of 225-45-hr17 for a set of 4! Hopefully it won't affect the speedo reading a whole lot. I must say I am very impressed with the dry road handling on these too! I drove the car a little without them with the coils, and did not notice any difference afterwards. I was taking corners hard too! A little too excited with the coils I guess. Can't say much about the snow and ice handling yet as there is no snow in souther/central Colorado. If it ever snows this winter I will post another review.

Does anyone know if that is what the dealers are offering?
I contacted H & R Canada and they suggested for coilovers. The Audi dealer offered KW springs. I want to lower it about 1 inch and stiffen up the ride.
It is way too sloppy since I got my Boxster S five days ago ;-)
Also what is the difference between the springs and the coilovers? This is for street use only.
2000 Santorin Blue, 6Sp, Stock, P 7000's (delicious)
" A Boxster without lowered suspension is like a really classy lady with cheap shoes!"
