Default installing front license plate holder

I recently got busted and need to install my front license plate holder on my S4. I recall seeing some pics/tips in the past, but I can't seem to find them with the search engine.

Can anyone help? I'd like to know how the installation is done. I understand there is a front license plate trim piece that needs to be drilled, but I can't even take that off. Does it just slide down?

On a side note, Royal Motors in SF offered to install it for $40 (they also charged me $50 to reprogram my key remote buttons). Is that typical or excessive? When I took a Boxster to Carlsson Porsche-Audi, they installed the front plate holder while I waited, PLUS applied a little touchup paint to the side of the driver's mirror. All GRATIS!!! Any comments?

Default That's BS

That should be free and the remote button reprogram is definately free (covered once by Audi warranty). Try somewhere else.

Default ... busted how?

did you get pulled over for something else? getting cited for not having a front plate is pretty rare. personally, i'd just leave it off anyway.

Default Should be free, go to Rector ask for Andie, ask her about it, Royal blows

Screw the license plate thing, how much did it cost (the ticket, I mean)?
The key programming should be free (once), got mine done at Rector with my 5k service.

Default Re: ... busted how?

My brother (the one with incredibly bad luck when it comes to parking tickets...) was driving the car when he was pulled over. Apparently, the policeman had just pulled another car over for the same violation and decided to get 2 for one.

I just put the plate on myself. 2fas4u2pass was kind enough to send me the service bulletin and it took all of 20 min after I got the proper drill bits. I might get another trim piece for later, but I may as well be legal for awhile.
