Default Intake upgrade does the trick

FunkWeasel, Bauer, Paul, Big Bird, remember my mentioning that I owned an X-1 Racer intake setup, but didn't bring it with me to Sears so as not to add another level of complexity to my new setup? I really wish I had now. Just installed it tonight, and the result is a driveable car. No more throttle off hesitation, poor idle, or any of that crap I had to deal with while at the track. Damn.

I can still detect a little something amiss as I drove around, but had I installed it, I would have at least been able to lap my car. So stupid. Anyway, my flow straightener goes in tomorrow to fix that last little bit, and lemmi will take care of the rest. I will post more when it's done.

Thanks again for all your help out there.

Default i just checked your file ....

you have the Evo intake file , which means you don't need a straightener .

Default but I did need an intake...

which meant it couldn't have run right with the stock airbox. Wish I had known that. You mentioned that file is weak??? So let's get it out of there and put a proper file in... We still on for tomorrow?

Default Which MAF housing are you using ?

I am currently running the X-1 intake with ASP housing and no screen/flow straightener either and car runs real smooth with good throttle response.

Default Mike, very good to hear!

and it definitely sucks that you didn't bring it to the track... lol, figures :P

If you're jonesin' for some track time now that it's all fixed, there's a NASA event at Buttonwillow this weekend. Just thought I'd be the little red devil on your shoulder

Default So you were able to get a flow straightener? I hope you didn't pay too much $$$. I have an extra...

one sitting on my tool bench I would have let you have for cheap. Oh well...

Default Oh, it does...it does. It's also amazing what a flow straightener does also with

the X-1 Racer intake. Chances are his car is running lean.

Default I will know today for certain.

I don't plan on paying too much for it... I may still give you a call if an attempt is made on my bunghole. I do know that I won't run without it, regardless of whether I'm running an open element filter or not. Thanks again for the offer.
