Must have been a turbo, I know of a VERY quick one around here, dual special made exhausts?

Default there are 10.10 second neons out there with auto tranys

True it was a stripper on slicks but the same kit on a street car would be pretty quick.

By freeway, did you mean the Dallas North Tollway? If so, then you probably encountered my friend in his white C5! He called me Sunday evening to relay the story, but also mentioned that you were really haulin' a$$ through the toll booth and had good a jump on him. He also has an auto, and he had to ride 3rd out of the booth because the tranny would not downshift to 2nd. In any case, it sounds like you two had more fun than his passenger was looking for!!!

Yeah, that was me! I was a bit ahead of him, but only by 2-3 lengths, and I didn't get back on it until I saw that he'd romped it...it's very strange, because I've had exactly the same thing happen with other 'vettes on the T-way at those speeds, and in every case I thought I'd lose, but none ever managed to pass me. Your friend would certainly done better if not for the huge drag from having the windows down and the t-roof (or whatever they call it) off. Anyway, tell him I said hello!

Yeah, yeah. The worst part of the whole thing was telling DaveM that I got scragged by an Audi.

You did have a good jump. I should have seen you coming sooner, when stomped on it, it wouldn't down shift into 2nd, so I had to ride 3rd out. If we'd had a little more room, I think I would have evened things up. DaveM was right about my passenger. The fear was in his eyes.

Did you catch the hottie in the TA right before 190? She saw us coming and stomped on it.

Maybe next time. Later.

Hehee...well, don't feel bad; later on, I got a big surprise by a Neon! I won, but it was closer than I was thinking it'd be! ;-)

Yeah...the only disadvantage you had was the huge drag with your windows down and top off; if you'd been closed up, I think you'd have done much better.

Yeah, she was cute. Did you see the 'stang she was following? He was the reason I was going so fast through the booth, having just given him a good spanking. He wasn't too happy! ;-)

OK! Have fun!

Yep - no matter what he had in there, you still would have lost to a Neon. And THAT would suck.

Default Actually, I'm still stock...

...but, based upon past experience, I think that the range we were in is kind of a sweet spot for S4's, and a not-so-sweet spot for 'vettes; in every case I've run with one in this range (which now totals five or six), none has ever passed me, but at low speeds, they've won, with the exception of one guy who launched too hard and just sat there spinning.

It's surprised me in every case, because I've gone in thinking I'd lose!
