he said that the WRXs he worked with in his area didn't have the problem

But I want to see if the hubcentric rings solve the problem first before I do anything else.

You can generally get rid of the majority of the shimmy if...

you torque the wheels down correctly! you will need the hubcentrics to make it perfect however!
