iPod install question:

After searching, most go the AutoToy or Blitzsafe expensive cable route, but has anyone figured out a direct connection of the trunk cd-changer to the iPod that allows the head unit to sense that there is something connected to the changer input e.g. a resistor?
I have the stereo connections figured out, but the h/u won't activate the changer input- presumably because there is no/not enough load on the line in.
Anyone?

there was a schematic of the head unit canibablized to detect the iPod. i know it can be done. A local shop quoted my $350 to do.

He makes an adapter that will make the headunit read track99 or something like that and it works fine. You can also use your changer if you have one, it comes with a toggle box.

but I have it wired and the changer input on the h/u isn't responding. Those aftermarket cables must have resistors built into them to "trick" the h/u.
