Default I'm also very happy with my H&R streets

I have the avant ones on my sedan which have a slightly higher rear spring rate along with a neuspeed sway bar and I love that setup. I live in MN and see some pretty bad roads and they take them just fine while tightening up things just the way I need it, not too rough since I have ~ 45 minute communte on sometimes not to forgiving roads.

I would just be sure to buy from a good dealer so if you do have any problems they will be the ones you deal with instead of H&R directly.

Default Be a Man! Who cares what the gf thinks?

;-)

FWIW, I am no longer happy with the H&R/Bilsteins, since they seem to have become more 'floaty' with age.

You've been in my car...the ride height is great, and the ride, though firm, is not objectionable, but recent Audi drives have convinced me that I need something stiffer.

Default Sounds to me like grooved Bilstein's with H&R springs is the way to go...

you can adjust your ride height to the level you want it by choosing different grooves.

Default what the gf thinks is equal to...

the laymen opinion and my opinion when i am tired of driving etc... Sometimes you dont want the compromise 24hrs a day.

Default I appreciate your conundrum, but keep this in mind

If you end up with a 'compromise' suspension to appease the gf, how much will that affect your driving enjoyment when she's not in the car? Also, can't you use her car more if she doesn't like the ride?

Obviously, this is your decision, but I wanted to give you my $0.02...fwiw, my wife doesn't like my suspension much (or the exhaust, or the acceleration, or the heavy doors, etc) but it is my car, not intended as family transportation, so my enjoyment is more important ;-)

Default just so you know

I am using her as a refrence for the type of ride comfort compromise i am willing to take on a 24hr/7day a week basis daily driver.

Default Your requirements are exactly like mine (including the drive to NJ)...

I shortlisted the first two as well as the Intrax & FK CO's. I took a ride in my friends Bilstein\HR and liked them quite a bit. BTW, it need to pass the "wife" test too. I don't track the car now, but may do it a couple of times a year in the future.

In the end, I decided to go for the grooved Bilsteins\H&R's. They're not as expensive as coilovers, and the grooved Bilsteins allow you set the height as you desire. I don't think that I'm going to be changing the ride height or the dampening to really need coilovers. If I decide to track the car more often and get coilovers, I'd probably go with the Stasis Tracksports but for now the Bils\HR's seem like a good combination.

I'm going on a nine hour drive to NJ to pick them up this weekend (driving from Ottawa) and will install them next week. I will be able to give impressions by next week :-)

Default From what i hear

People are happy with their H&R streets and their Stasis. I wonder if anyone will post saying they've had both and which they prefer or describe them in contrast to one another. Seems like I am getting less opinions on the Stasis street but maybe because they are less common right now since they are fairly new to the s4 market.

Also with the grooved billsteins, what am I giving up by choosing to not get coilovers.

I mean once i have adjustability, its not like i would mess with the dampeners since i thought i read that they are already near their max cause its going on an s4, and this is why people with this suspension end up selling it to buy tracksports instead of re-adjusting it? ? Maybe i'm wrong, trying to make sense of all of this.

Thanks
