Just did a search. Not much found. How does a driver "match revs" or "match speeds" when shifting?

Do you simply blip the accelerator? I couldn'r find an explanation for it in any of the posts.

Thanks

Default Yes, you simply blip the trottle and send the revs to where they would be in a lower gear.

It's takes the jerk away from downshifting which loses you power, and gives you better acceleration.

Thx. That's what I thought. Isn't doing that bad for the clutch similar to riding the clutch?

No, cause when your rev matching, the clutch is depressed. I do it all the time and no clutch smell

Default its better for the clutch - you blip when the clutch is in. or, you blip in N with the clutch out..

which is double clutching - saves the synchros and the clutch (if you shift fast enough, rpms still match).

Good. It's easy, and you'll like the feeling that you'll get.

Default Actually, you rev match when the clutch is out...

and the transmission is in neutral. If you really want a smooth shift, you have to double clutch. You can do this fairly easily by blipping the throttle as the clutch is coming up from the floor with the shifter in neutral. Then you put the clutch back in and shift into gear. I generally wait until the shifter slips into whatever gear I want. If you rev-match properly, it will almost get sucked into gear.
