Default Just got my car back from the dealer with new clutch/flywheel and new brakes and other stuff. feels

like a different car completely. i got in the car and went to move it and almost stalled out. The engagement point is very low compared to where it was before. There was some kind of clunk or raddle with my original clutch/flywheel, and its completely gone now. I thought that it was just transmission movement, but i was wrong. Now that thats gone, all i notice is the tranny movement. So much so, that im really considering a TSB and a snub mount now.

The brakes are very spongey with the new rotors and pads. Is there a break-in for the brakes? I know there is for the clutch.

thanks

Default Did you get another stock clutch, RS4 clutch, or other?

Yes, you need to bed in the brakes. Do some several firm stops from 60-10 or something like that.

Default stock everything, all warranty work.

also, for some reason, the clutch pedal seems extremely light. but, this could be because i was driving the m5 for the week my car was in the shop

Hmmm, the M5 I drove seemed to have a lighter clutch pedal than my S4.

Yep, the M3 I drove the same day seemed to have a lighter clutch pedal than the S4 also.

Default really? i dont like the overall feeling in the m5. i think the pedal placement is terrible. the gas

and brake are extremely close, and the pedals are way too low to the floor. im much more comfortable driving the s4.

I agree. The S4 fits me like a glove. I haven't found anything I feel more comfortable in.

Default Bed the brakes.... several stops 80-10.... also try bleeding them...

Do those stops HARD- let ABS kick in when you do those stops. When I was bedding some brakes a few weeks ago (correction I was the co-pilot, a pro race driver was doing the bedding), we did 100-10/ 90-10/ 80-10/ 100-10 a few times. Rear brakes were SMOKING when we were done bedding the fronts... (remember I have stock A4 rears, so you won't be smokin your S4 ones up)...

Also could be air in the lines causing squishyness. Bleed them! And check your fluid level.

They should be very firm and grabby (well as responsive as stock ones can be) when you first get it from the stealer with fresh pads + rotors.

Any softness or extra travel in the pedal is due to *something not quite right*. S4 brakes generally aren't soft when new....

Default I just had my clutch replaced under warranty too...

and did exactly the same as you. Almost stalled it twice coming out of the parking lot.
