It was last night at 1:00 a.m. I just picked up my car from a turbo replacement yesterday afternoon. After not having it for a month i was anxious to go out and test it out to make sure everything was running ok. So i'm cruising along on the freeway doing about 70 and i decided i would do a little sprint and watch the boost guage. i downshift to fourth and floor it for about 5 seconds or so and then the V1 goes ape**** with full strength KA from the rear. I panic and pull up the handbrake to slow myself down without brake lights to about 70 and i act like i didn't do anything. Still full strength KA from the rear, i reach up and turn off the V1. Highway patrol moves in behind me and i'm hoping he's just gonna drive on by. Nope :-( red lights in the rear view and a spot light in my face. Anyone know what the consequences are for this? I thought I was gonna go to jail. Anyone with experience in this area have any tips or anyting?
oh yea, i'm in California

never got a ticket for over 100 (yet and miraculously I might add)...I THINK you might want a lawyer because a judge might get pissed at you and start fining you up the wazoo.

you can expected your insurance to go up a little.
All in all not a terribly big deal.
You might be able to argue for a lower speed if you are savvy and polite?

Howdy! This is going to be a big deal most likely. I suggest you check with the NMA, http://www.motorists.org and look for their state specific advocate, call or email the advocate for advice. Possibly join the group, I know they have been a big help for me in some cases. This is going to require a lawyer most likely, the NMA lists some pretty top notch folks.
If I knew more about CA speed laws I'd definitely offer more assistance. There are some great CA laws though, mostly can get you out of small town/city tickets, but highways are another story, very hard to fight any highway ticket.
Fight every ticket!
