Definitely get a lawyer...
When I was in court waiting to fight my ticket, one of the cases before me shocked me. A girl had been chased by police (yes chased, did not pull over) including cars AND a police helicopter. They clocked her at around 110 mph at some points. Both helicopter pilots and 2 car policemen were there to testify against her. I don't know what magic bull**** her lawyer spewed, but they reduced to charges to basic speed law and she got off wih less than $300 fine. I was friggin amazed. ONce again, get a lawyer, they can fix anything.

Yep ... lawyers can do anything.
Well the right ones can ... make sure you get a lawyer that was like a former prosecutor or something.
Someone that knows the court magistrates and judges, and (more importantly) the prosecutors.

it's a misdemeanor (reckless driving), 2 pts on your licsense, & you can't go to traffic school
to remove the points. i got a $500 fine as well cause i tried to fight the ticket (with no lawyer). silly me. i scheduled my court date when i had a final exam! judge said he'd only reschedule if the officer didn't show up . . . which he did.
if i had pleaded no contest it would have been the $271 fine you see for the carpool violations.
at least that's how it was for 107mph on I280 back in 1992. maybe things have changed, but get a lawyer and get it reduced to a regular speeding ticket.
