I just drove home after taking the long way around (the highway) to ship my recently sold fender roller tool at the UPS center. Traffic is fairly heavy this time of day and, as usual, I was behind a slow car in the left lane (3 lane highway).
I was getting impatient with the slow car (60mph)but did the proper thing and waited for him to move to the center lane. A BMW behind me got impatient and whipped to the far right lane to go around the other slow car in the center lane. Ah, it was just about the same time the slow car ahead of me moved over
Hmmm, a newer bmw flooring it + open road ahead! I dropped to 3rd gear but let off for a split second when he swung back to the middle lane. I wanted to be sure of what he was doing, and make sure he knew I was over there, etc.
I can only assume he moved over to show me how it runs, as there were no other cars in that far right lane. Anyway, I pulled on him a pretty good amount with a sh$t eating grin on my face, of course
I'm not sure of exactly how many car lengths due to watching the road. I went to 4th so we were probably up to around 100 or so.
I let off as we came up on traffic but the guy kept going! I don't weave through heavy traffic at high speeds. Well, after hearing about the local supercharged M3.. I was let down. After he did the fly-by I saw the measley 330i badge![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Hey, it was still more fun than my usual 10 mile 30-35mph zone stoplight after stoplight drive home from work! I may have to take the long way home more often.

If anything ever happened (and remember, you can only control your own driving and not his), you'd get so f**ked. Jail for sure plus a fellony conviction for life.
Not to mention the moral issues.

Just kidding. I know what you mean. THat's why I let off when we started coming up on traffic. WHen you drive by other cars too fast on the highway, some little old lady will probably change lanes right in front of you.

It is different. When I'm driving I have complete control over me and what I do. I have a lot of faith in me and my abilities as well as my judgment.
The moment you engage in any sort of race with another, you become partners. Whatever he/she might do from that moment on, you are responsible for. It doesn't matter that you might back off later. Whatever happens can be considered a consequence which flows from that decision.
So on rare occasion, I might drive quickly, but I'll never race. And I also make it clear whenever I can that I have an absolute policy against racing. I wouldn't want some prosecutor or smart lawyer trawling the internet and finding me talking about my racing. :-p

The encounter with the bmw didn't really happen! I saw some other silver S4 pulling away from the bmw and only dreamed it was mine. I never exceed posted speed limits, even when going downhill.
