Just replaced faulty coolant temp sensor and now the coolant gauge never reaches

couple of mos...I dont' think it's harmful, but check out what happened this AM---->
After a 10 min. drive in some traffic (note: 30 degree weather today), coolant gauge needle crept up 1 notch past DC mark...???wtf? Than I got on the HWY for 2 miles and it came back down.

Great advice! I'd go with straight coolant or other inert heat transfer fluid in the sensor well,
but that is excellent advice. Air is not very good for transferring heat (it also makes lousy brake fluid).

Looking at BRK's link, it looks like ours may have been improperly installed. I'm going to replace
it once more before I try to replace the thermosdat, which is apparenlty a PITA to do. Interestingly, my car threw no temp semsor codes before it was replaced and throws no temp sensor code with the new sensor either. However, my warmup ineficiency code for both cats has disappeared with the new sensor in place.
