Figured I'd test the system before I'd ever need it.

Default Audi roadside assistance is pretty bad (my experience)

I had to call them two weeks ago when I returned to find my car had a dead battery (not sure of the cause, possibly interior light left on - hasn't cropped up again). Took ~ 10 minutes to get through, explained that I had a dead battery probably just in need of a jump and the car was quattro, so flatbed was needed if towed. I confirmed this with the tow company itself after 2 hours when checking to see when tow truck will arrive (they told me 1.5 hours since they had to arrange to get a flatbed).

Tow truck came nearly 3 hours later: not a flatbed and driver says he was told just to tow and didn't have jumper cables. Luckily he managed to find some cables in back and that worked, but this was a pretty bad screwup across multiple categories. This seems to be a pretty widespread experience (poor roadside assistance) ... is there a useful outlet to complain to or is anyone organizing a response to this issue?

Default flatbed not really needed...

Despite the common belief, they can dolly the 2nd set of wheels and tow the car with a normal tow truck.

I've seen it done to the S4 (not mine - thankfully)! I can't really think of too many serious downsides as long as they are reasonably careful about things like magnetic taillights and the paint.

Dollying the car is unnecessarily risky, IMHO. I'll wait for a flatbed.
