Default K04 Kit or wait for the Garret GT28RS kit? Car is down, stock turbo popped!!!

Need some ideas!!!

Buy an already put together KO4 kit? (AWE,APR,etc.)

Piece together a custom K04 kit?

Or wait for the Garret Kit?
(anyone know release dates or more info?)

Thanx for the time guyz....

Default I started buying K04 stuff this week... I'm really not interested in going 600+hp on my daily driver

No one knows how long the stock internals are going to hold or what the reliability is on any of these upcoming kits... I'd rather go tried and true then be the test pig.

Maybe in a few years when it's time to upgrade and I get another car to drive everyday... but until then... it's K04 for me.

Default IMO, I'd go with regular K04's...

They are the only reliable option out there right now. I have big hopes for the GT28 kits, but I'm not personally willing to put my money and car on the line to find out if they work in the long term. Where are you located? Personally, I'd go with a custom K04 kit (actually, I am right now ;p ) I'm doing Stage 3- installed for about the price of a full kit alone, which don't even include important things like a clutch, downpipes, etc.

Default Go GT25r's and you won't have to uprgrade the internals ($!). More potential...

for higher power than the KO4's and less lag than the GT28rs. If everything goes well, they will be available sometime in August. Who knows when the 28's will get full sorted.

Default Re: K04 Kit or wait for the Garret GT28RS kit? Car is down, stock turbo popped!!!

i'm stuck with the same situation...drivers side turbo blown...33,000 miles on car (2001.5 6 speed). awe's rsk04 kit sounds nice, but is pretty expensive. i emailed piggie twice about my situation and haven't gotten a response (i'm in michigan also so that would have been nice).

any suggestions on who to go with to piece together a custom k04 kit?

If you are in Michigan, I'd definitely go w/ Piggie. Just keep after him.
