The key fob stopped working the other night, so i opened it to replace the battery to find out the chip inside is loose.
I am sure this is no easy fix....or could it be?!

By chip do you mean the entire circuit board or just one of the components? If the board is loose you can just use some super glue, glue gun, or similar non conductive adhesive to fix it in position. If it is an electrical component you will more than likely need to do some precision soldering or have a computer/electronics shop do it for you.

Here is a picture of the fob opened up, the chip in reference has a yellow arrow pointing to it. It truly appears as if the chip was glued in, but I am sure the three prongs on each side must have soldered.

Yeh, I wouldn't try and do that kind of component soldering yourself unless you have the right tools. If you get solder on the wrong thing you're basically fvcked...

Sometimes the challenge alone is worth it?![Big Grin](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Truth be told, i should just replace both worn out key fobs at this point.
I am sure I'll find a pair on eBay cheap enough, rather than spending a weekend screwing around.

Well, I spent $10 for a new soldering iron with a precise tip to tight areas.
I got in there r-e-a-l tight and applied just enogh solder to repair the damage.
Nothing.
Maybe the chip leaked which is why it popped off? Maybe the heat damaged it?
Either way i am no worse off but I added another tool to my garage!
