from what ive heard, their time to failure is more predictable than K03s but not necessarily
bulletproof like some think

It's been said that due to the extra room in the A6 engine compartment that the K03s last longer
That being said, the service history on my A6 showed 2 sets of K03s being replaced under warranty and I replaced the 3rd set with K04s when I bought it.
Ironically, my S4 is still on it's original K03s at 90k, so I'm in no rush to put in my K04s. And yes, I'm chipped and I drive her pretty hard. I just take really good care of her and warm up and idle down, too.
