They may perform well on the track, but they lack the quick reflexes that better, max performance tires exibit in daily driving ie, SP9000. Again, weak sidewalls are the culprit.
When you mount the Kumos,we've noticed they're cake compared to a Max performance tire, because the sidewalls are not as stiff.
If you want a tire that wears like iron, but performs like a Max tire, try the Firehawk EP's. I have them, and I love them.

I agree that the biggest draw back to the Kumho is their below par turn-in response (probably associated with a weak sidewall). In some cases this actually helps give you a better ride without sacrificing ultimate grip/speed (in comparision to the SP9000).
If I were spending the $ needed for SP9000's, I would spend it on Pilot Sport's or AVS Sport's. Both of these tires have great turn-in response and better dry grip. They are also quite and ride well. I believe the SP9000 was actually design to equal the old SP8000 in performance (which it doesn't seem that it does) yet give much more tread life.

The problem with the tires you mentioned, other than the SP 9000, is that they wear very, very quickly. The 9000 has a 280 treadwear rating, while still retaining it's max classification..
