Default What david is trying to say is (more)

the race cooler does not come with a thermostatic switch and he had to install one. What this switch does is open the valve under X temp to allow the ATF to flow through the aux. cooler. You dont want to over cool the ATF. Hes not sure if he has the inputs/outputs hooked up correctly. There is nothing wrong with the B&M cooler its all a matter of connecting it properly. Now I didn't use one of those thermostatic valves like david its always so freaking hot here in florida and I am always hauling *** so the temps are always high. I had a before and after temp difference of +/_~15-20 degrees F depending on outside temps

Default The thermostatic valve keeps the ATF hot = smoother/better shifts, but routes it to the ...

Aux Cooler when necessary so it doesn't get too hot.

Making ATF too cold (by having cooler without switch) can also be bad for tranny.

Default Nah - the other way around. The Normal (non-race) ones have a vicosity-based diverter. The race ...

ones are straight through.

I checked with B&M and my original understanding was wrong. Just confused by their web-language.

Default Is there a CHEAPER alternative to L10?

Is there anyway another TC can be installed by a Shop locally? I'm located in So Cal, and shipping the tranny far away for upgrade is simply just to costly.

Just want an upgraded TC that will hold my GIAC'd ko3's easily, putting more power to the ground...

Is there such an upgrade?
Cost?
Other options?

Default Suggestions ...

1a. Buy a relatively new used TC from Dad's Auto's
1b. send to L10 for upgrade (~$400).
1c. Get an Audi shop that will drop sub-frame, and replace TC (~$1K at CA rates)

2a. If you notice ATF temps are high (Block 4 of TCU using VAG-COM). Replace stock aux cooler with higher-perf one
2b. Buy B&M Aux Cooler & Thermostatic Switch
2c. Route as per my post below.
