Last night my wife found out why I don't cruise around in the S4 at night... (long)

We were coming back at about 8:30pm (whew thats late) from taking our 3 year old to a class to teach him about being a big brother (got another boy on the way in about 2 months). She never thought for a minute a small hilljack town like Middletown Ohio would be so full of street racing punks... but we were challenged to no less than 4 races trying to leave the city.
She was amazed how I could spot a ricer when all you could see is the headlights at night. Of course I turned down all the races. I usually do. But one particular guy kept revving and poking and proding trying to provoke me... but no dice. My wife said that if she wasn't pregnant and we didn't have the 3 year old in the car she would be thrilled to see me whip up on this poor guy. I raced him once before from a stop light. One of my only three races ever. He has a riced out civic... and nothing under the hood. Its scary the kind of mentality these people get with their civics... like they can take on the world. I beat him like a frenchman beating a baby seal before... no need to race him again.
But its funny man... they ALL come out at night.

My college car pool friend used to pull up in his Scirocco and hand me the keys. He'd say, "I like it when you drive because we always get in a race."

Guess it is better that way. I haven't been in a street race in over 11 years. I take it to the track when I want to race.
Good control btw, Thermal!

Its not like they try to hide it either. Its not that its some secret gift that lets people know when its on... its more of a thing where 'normal' people just aren't looking for the quick stop, the revving engine or the stupid grin nod kids give around here. Hell most people don't even look at other people in their cars... maybe thats what sets off these impromptu challenges.
