Default Late night SIR-B90 Wheel Bearing tool pics, better post later, probably monday :)

This tool is no joke, heavy construction, pulls like it's nothing. I'd like to thank Simpply for posting a pic of it a while back

Bearing had about 105k miles on it, 2-3 winters, wasn't dead yet, I'm sure a lot of places would blame the sound on tire noise.

Yoink!

Short ~1 minute xvid video compilation, I'd say It takes about 3-5 minutes of actual time to remove and replace a bearing with this tool, using hand tools. The rest of the time is spent getting ready to use it (removing wheel, axle, etc, takes time, don't expect 5 minutes from jack up to jack down!)

Default Etoolcart.com

I was going to get the VW/Audi only kit, but for $82.90 more I got the master kit with a case, didn't make sense not to get the full kit for the price difference. It's expensive, but after using it, it's a buy it once, use it for a lifetime piece of equipment. I'm still on the original front wheel bearings after 154k miles, I'm sure they'll fail one of these years.

Default haha, no kidding, pulling in the new bearing with the limited swing of the wrench was tiring, I was

so tempted to just hit it with the impact wrench. But, they say not to, and I know it'd leave telltale marks since I've used impacts on spring compressors enough times

Default Never bought a 1/2" ratchet, I abuse the $9 harbor freight torque wrench instead.

I have a $170 1/2" drive precision instruments split beam click type wrench I use when I need to torque something

<img src="http://www.matcotools.com/ProductImages/C3FR250F.jpg">

Used the HF wrench to remove the axle bolt, and to do the + 180 degree turn after torquing the bolt, held up great!

I do have another 1/2" HF torque wrench new in the box, for when the ratchet unit on the current one explodes from the abuse of being my breaker bar (they were on sale ;P ) Once it dies, I'll pick up a real ratchet and breaker bar set.

Default You are the wheel bearing king!

I have a whine near the rear axle and I don't know if it's the differential or a wheel bearing. The pitch doesn't change with loading or unloading either side, so I don't think it's the wheel bearing. Have you ever had one that didn't change pitch?

The last wheel bearing failure I had would change sharply in sound when the car was cornered in one direction.
