Default even though you haven't recanted your obnoxious statements, here's a little info...

Amongst the speculation and misinformation given, this post seems to have summed it up. I noticed this oil vapor when I replaced my TBB again last night, but my oil level was still full (Mobil 1 5w30) after over 5000 miles since my last change (although I may have topped it off about 3000 miles ago).

https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/s4/msgs/71015.phtml</a

Default Wow. What a bunch of knuckleheads...

Having owned and raced a number of turbos over the years I can say without hesitation that they all leaked a tiny bit of oil past the "seal" into the intake system. It is not a problem, it is not a sign of imminent death. That is all part of the mythology of turbos perpetuated by third-hand disinformation.

The "seal" on the turbos is just a close fitting washer system that does NOT provide a 100% seal against high-pressure oil. You don't want the seal drag or the chance of a catastrophic failure with a perfect/oversized seal.

Many turbo cars have a plug at the low point or at the base of the intercooler to drain this.

A completely worn-out turbo will also blow oil by the seals, but there will be a host of other problems associated with it and they will all be apparent. I have only heard of 1, yes 1! documented turbo failure in a kkk03. The design will outlast the engine. (Rare wastegate rod failures are NOT turbo failures.) Rant off.
