I've unlatched the ashtray return spring accidentally, and am now trying to get the ashtray out in order to reattach the spring.

I've been reading the Bentley A4/S4 manual, but it is absolutely incorrect when it comes to the center console, diagrams are for a car that's definitely not an S4...

In the diagrams, the ashtray does not seem to have any spring mechanism; in actuality, the S4's ashtray has a spring to eject the ashtray as well as a gear mechanism to keep the movement of the ashtray smooth.

So, I need help removing it.

The stereo needs to be removed then I believe there are a couple of release points on the top outside edges of the unit. My garage had mine out the other day but I didn't watch real close. They couldn't even figure it out. They called Audi for assistance.
