Default 30L alu block

The 3.0L block weighs in at 60lbs and the 2.7 blk is 105. The cranks are 35lbs each, the 2.8/2.7 heads will fit, along with a S4/RS4 intake. I have to setup the cam timing and check that but I think it will work.

Default Snow, if you don't go for that 3.0L block then I will!

Falcon isn't running this arrangement yet. But he has all of the bits and pieces broken down so he has the best information I've seen so far. Why don't you look at his picture poster if you'd like to see his current engine? :-p

I know of one or two people who have privately expressed a strong interest in trying this. I'm hoping that a few of us can do the project together. That way we can share our resources in sorting out the problems.

I sent you an email a while ago on this topic which you never responded to. You should read your email! :-pp

Default i have a very strong interest in seeing the results

personally i prefer disgustingly overbuilt iron blocks, helps me sleep at night

i'll happily assist in any way possible to help you guys get 3.0L alu blocks adapted to our platform though!

Default I look at it this way...

Sure, it could grenade. But what have I really lost if it does? On the other hand, if it works out I will have quite a nice engine. Plus, it is a neat challenge given that so few are going this route right now.

Anyway, I actually think that the larger crank could mean that the engine is stronger and not weaker. How much of a vulnerability is the block? I've never heard of any of these engines failing because the block failed.

So if I'm going to build an engine (and there are very few built engines out there so far) then it makes sense to build the best engine I can.
