Logging Tool USB vs Serial

Purchasing a VAG-COM and want to be able to use it with Lemmiwinks and possibly APR V-tune and ECUx in the future so I don't have to purchase a new cord. Seems like Serial is going the way of the dinosaurs, but does USB work for all of those aforementioned applications? Or should I just get ECUx w/ the cable and then buy a VAG-COM software license?

Go serial. Less possible issues IMO. ECUx cable doesn't work with VAG, but VAG cable should work

with ECUx.

Go USB. Serial is a dead port nowadays. Most new laptops do not even have a serial port.

Uwe at Ross-tech has said that there is negligible difference in performance between the two as well.

You can get Lemmi to work on a USB port as well, you just have to use a serial emulator.
