DIY is possible, but it's a huge undertaking. I took it to a K40 dealer

Default K40 makes the K40... The guy that installed my K40 ...

does both custom V1 and K40 installs, and he says he prefers the K40 by a long shot because (brace yourself) the K40 is a lot more sensitive (he has one in his A4 Avant, if that tells you anything). A lot of people with V1s say that the low location of the detector works against me, because coming up a hill, I'll be missing out on signal, but this happened to me once, and the damn thing is SO sensitive, that I was picking up the radar in my REAR as it deflected of signs. If I'm in the middle of nowhere (no signs or reflective surfaces of any kind) and I'm coming up a hill, I could be in trouble, but the efficacy is just completely unbridled, because the detector isn't behind any glass... that's gotta help!

Default If only Valentine made a hidden version..

I'd love to have the V1's functions and range in an "invisible" detector.
I really don't want to have a $400 RD sitting out for cops and thieves to see, and I'm just too lazy to take it down and hide it every time I park.

The K40's approach to installing individual LED's all over the place seems a bit extreme though. I'd probably put them all in a custom enclosure, or just peeking out from the bottom of the A-pillar trim. The control **** could hide in the armrest compartment or glovebox.
The V1's remote display might be more difficult though..

K40 also makes a great laser scrambler. It saved my *** twice!

Did you opt for the Laser Jammer as well?

You can get a K40 remote display, too.

V1 has a *hidden* module available. The module's very small and very concealable.

But the main unit still sits on your visor in plain view.

Default Where did the detector part go? My bro in law had the dealer mount his behind the bumper (m)

He didn't even realize that the unit needs to "see" to detect laser. Dealer really hosed him, something like $300 more for laser and than they mount it where it is TOTALLY useless. Be careful.
