Long reach, ultra-low jack...
<center><img src="http://www.ac-hydraulic.com/img/Act%20red%20car%20DK13HLQ.gif"></center><p>
I want a long reach, ultra-low jack similar to the AC Hydraulics HK13HLQ pictured. But I don't want to pay US$460 for it.
Anyone know of similar jacks at a better price?

IMO, just fork it over...
unless you're buying the harbor freight aluminum one for $130, get the AC one for $460. Those are the only two options I see. I know there is a Craftsman racing floor jack around, not sure it's price.

My first thought was Harbor Freight ...
But I couldn't find one there that was both low and long. And especially, I don't know of any jacks that will stay flat as well as long like this one will.
Some people complain that the Harbor Freight and Sears jacks are cheap Chinese jacks and will blow out their seals. But I think that is very hit-and-miss.

Here's the alum craftsman...it should have a lifetime warranty...
like the rest of their stuff<ul><li><a href="http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&am p;pid=00950239000&subcat=Lift+Equipment">http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&am p;pid=00950239000&subc

I'm afraid you are right...
<center><img src="http://www.drivewerks.com/catalog/images/drivewerks/jacks/DKHLQ_porsche.jpg"></center><p>The Harbor Freight one also is triangulated so that it is low-lift only at the end.
The way AC Hydraulics does it is to limit the capacity of their 13 model. That's fine for what I need.
Just gets to the point though where I'd rather put the money towards a proper lift. :-/

I just bought a different version of the Craftsman on sale...
But same problem. It is low-lift only at the end. The triangulation means you cannot push the jack in very far unless you make it a two stage lifting operation so as to get the clearance you need.

Not necessarily true...lifetime warranty really only was on hand tools and...
...I believe even that might be changing.
As for jacks, the last Craftsman jack I had failed and when I took it back they said "sorry, we only have a three month warranty on those now". To which I pointed out the one-year warranty specifically written in the instruction booklet, so they relented and replaced it.
But be forewarned, it's not the same Sears/Craftsman anymore.
