You didn't install the self-bleeding nut. Mine came with one.

I think I remember seeing that a while ago.

Default I just bought a BigRed engine hoist. Not bad quality...

Those also have the same triangular design. I think that's the only way they can get a jack to lift 2 tons. The ACD one is only 1.3 tons -- just enough to do the job.

Default I like to jack on the front subframe of the S4...

Usually I wil put the jack in just behind the wheel and forward to the subframe. Then I can put stands on the centre lift points which seem to be stronger. I don't think the lift points on the front are that strong. On the back, the weight is much less so fine.

I also want a jack that can handle my Porsche Turbo easily. Oh, and a Porsche 996 Cup car ... for the future. :-p

Default I don't recall - there is a bleed screw in the middle of the fluid bolt, though.

I usually unscrew that, put the jack under the car, and pump the handle a few times. When fluid starts coming out, I close the bleed screw.

I don't think that's self-bleeding, though. What am I missing?

Default I wouldnt buy a doghouse from Harbor Freight

Under a 3000lbs car knowning that everything I buy there breaks in 10 mins of use .. U have to be joking. Would feel much better if I was using snapon / mac / matco tools equipment.

Default I think a lot depends on the tool and the intended purpose...

I agree with you on a lot of items. It is worth paying for quality. But HF does sell some high quality tools -- at a higher price of course. And sometimes the tool is something that isn't going to be stressed.

A jack is one of those things I would prefer not to buy from Harbor Freight.
