The freeze frame data seems to cleared when the DTC's are cleared. Hmmm... perhaps there is still a backdoor into the ECU for DTC history...

Moral of the story. Clear your DTC's

I'd advise looking at them first and not blindly using your EMCS feature.

Default Freeze Frame Data...I guess we should've read the manual

Ok I just looked through the manual and address 33 mode 02 shows the freeze frame data, also there is a mode 9 that has vin info... This is untested and unconfirmed at this point, as the manual tends to have some inaccuracies. I will investigate this further this weekend

I use SnagIt (for Windoze) at www.snagit.com, works like a charm!

Default Re: We need to convince Uwe to show freeze frame data too!

Hmm. The traditional way to access Freeze-Frame data is through "OBD-II", the VAG Protocols don't support it directly. Unfortunately, "OBD-II" runs through a completely different set of low-level comm protocols, and it isn't somthing I can add support for "over night". It is in the long-term plan for VAG-COM to be able to do "OBD-II". But aside from Freeze-Frame data, there's nothing the VAG-Protocols don't do just as well or better.

Now I *suspect* that the freeze-frame data might be accessible through the VAG-protocols in some of the data-blocks. If this is the case -- and I'll have to do some experimenting to be sure -- you'll have access to it in the the version about to be released, although it won't be as pretty as what OBDTool / OBD2Scan show you.

Default Can I get my local shop to reset codes with their OBD systems?

Is there a specific OBD tool name or version that I should ask them about?
