Looking for BTDT and thoughts etc on suspension - details inside - thanks
My '01.5 (purcahsed in Feb w/ 46k mi, now has 53k) has stock suspension - and it feels pretty unsettled on the highway if it is not smooth pavement. I had the car aligned by somebody who has done a good job on my other cars. Is this normal on stock suspension?? Both my A4 and '84 urquattro feel much more composed on rougher surfaces at speed. Do stiffer shocks help? I'm also considering lowering springs to go with stiffer shocks - the car sits so high and overall does not have a connected feel to the road - any BTDT and input appreciated. What is the recommeded spring/ shock setup - I don't want to be slammed....

This is a very good step up from stock, and it wont break the piggy bank. I don't
recommend it for track use, but it is a huge improvement over stock ride, and height.
My $.02.<ul><li><a href="http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/part_detail.cfm?PMaI=1&PMoI=4&PEI=6&PP =s4_27t_suspension.cfm&PPT=Suspension&IL=H RBilsteinCombo">http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shared/part_detail.cfm?PMaI=1&PMoI=4&P

Yes stiffer suspension will help.
Lots of materials here on this topic.
Soft to stiff (coilovers only)
Koni/StreetSport
Eibachs
PSS9s and H&Rs fall in here in terms of Spring Rate
Vogtlands
TrackSports
PSS9s and H&Rs fall in here in terms of harshness
Penske (Contest and Competition) and MotorSports

I didn't think that when I was stock but then again, I didn't have the same perspective as I do now.
I didn't do any high performance driving on better suspension before that, so I had no complaints.
That said, I always recommend H&R Streets as a good first suspension on this car.

yeah those sleeves look interesting - I see they allow 1/2".....
up or down from "normal" - how does "normal" compare to stock height with, say H&Rs?
PS your sig is so distracting - brights on baby!

1/2"? Nope, I'd say you have a good 2"-3 1/2" of adjustment. W/out the sleeves
my front was at an ultra low 24 1/4". Wayyyy too low. May have been that bad on just my car, but it was silly stupid. The grooved Bilsteins that AWE sells are a great way to go also. Cheaper than the sleeves too.

Here. Not sure where you were reading on the ECS site but....
"Already have springs and shocks? The ECS Coil Over Add On Kit is designed to fit directly over aftermarket shocks (O.D of 1.5" or 40mm). Allows for +1.5"/-3.5" of height adjustment in ...."
