Default S4 > A4 2.8Q

I've had both. Both fully loaded. S4 = more problems. S4 = more worth it to fix them. S4/Audiworld makes you paranoid about turbos. S4 = Better all around car than A4 2.8Q. S4 > A4 2.8Q.

Because we can't understand what you typed. Try proofing your post.

Default Replying with "STFA" with the tone that's often used is not helpful.

It's like chickens pecking at another chook that's smaller/younger/weaker than them (some interesting psychology there I suspect).

Searching the archives can sometimes be helpful, if you know how to do it. But people here seem to view computer literacy as a prerequisite for driving an S4 for some reason that I've never understood.

Rory

PS How many of us amateur mechanics would find it helpful if we queried a master mechanic and got the shouted reply "RTSM"?

PPS RTSM=read the shop manual

Default S4 > 2.8 A4, but..

I went from a 2.8 A4 to an S4 also. The S4 is a better car, but IMHO reliability isn't going to be as good as the A4 2.8. During my 5yrs of owning the A4, I don't recall ever hearing of someone having a tranny problem with one. Here, it seems to happen to someone on a regular basis. Likewise engine probs. You don't have to wait long to hear about someone with blown turbos or other less expensive engine probs.

I'm glad I got my S4, it's a great car. But, if reliability is your prime concern and your repair budget is very tight, you probably ought to stick with the A4.

hope that helps,
Dave

Default If they handed me the shop manual, I'd be happy to read it.

I'd probably find the answer, too.

STFA is just shorthand for "please search the archives because your answer is in there." You look at it as rude, I look at it as helpful - I'm telling the person where to find the info they seek.
