no more so than the entire car... i mean putting in a nav from 2003+ isnt going to make the rest of the car look any newer.

another example... if you had a '67 camaro and put in a pioneer avic nav... it would just look retarded.

as far updates go... the firmware is prolly no longer made, i believe 2001 update is the final one for rns-d... as far as discs go... 2003 for rns-c (the stock s4 with the center console control). 2005 for rns-d (? version 4b) is the most recent for that.

are you talking about maps or firmware? maps should be readily available for both

same with bmw, theyre still doing firmware updates on MK4 nav units but no longer do updates on previous models. (which they no longer used after 2003).

however the firmware updates really do not change your life in any way... its typically minor details... the CD/DVD discs are the important area that needs to be up to date.

They have made changes to both. Some new changes have been nice.
