Default Loose front brake pads apparently causing...

...a clunking noise from the front end at low speeds when starting and stopping. I eliminated many other things and today found that the inside lower front brake pads on both sides can be moved by hand and make the clunk I have been hearing. These are stock pads with about 5/16" left on them. Is the noise normal? Will changing pads fix this? TIA

Default I may have the same problem...

The noise is really annoying when going down the driveway and over speedbumps. I really need to find the solution to this problem

Default Solution:

It holds on even when the front rotors are glowing and the pads are sparking

http://www.permatex.com/auto/autoext.asp?automotive=yes&f_call=get_item&amp ;item_no=80729</a

Default Mine has to be front brake-related...

... because I did a little test with the emergency brake. Using only the emergency brake to stop a low speeds, I got no noise, but with the brake pedal, the noise is there. I believe that the emergency brake only uses the rear calipers.

Default Thanks!

Also looks to be a relatively inexpensive solution. My first try was new tie rod ends. At least I ended up with new HD tie rod ends (from ECS).

Default I expect Mike's solution to work...

...but I won't be able to get to it for a few weeks. I will let you know when I get it done.
