Default Losing 1 quart of oil every 2500 miles... is this normal consumption?...>>>

I go from the top marker on the dip stick to the bottom one every 2500 to 3000 miles... what could cause this or is it normal? I don't see any leaks. I'm told it could be blow by or the cam seals. Don't think 1 quart is considered normal for that distance.

I'm using 5W40 Motul Synthetic if it means anything to you guys and its an 01 S4 6spd.

Car runs great otherwise.

Thanks for your help.

Default No, definately not normal

run the car until it's hot and pop the hood. Remove all the plastic engine covers and look for burning oil or oil residue.

If you don't see anything, it would be a good idea to get the car on a lift for inspection.

Default Thanks... any suggestions on what it could be? Don't see any leaks...>>>

could it be blow by or the cam seals? The dealer did the valve cover gaskets but not the cam seals... ******...

Don't know where else this oil could be going.

Thanks again.

Thanks... Maybe cam seals? Blow by? Valve covers are already done.

Default Cam tensioner seals, or the cam seals, but you'd smell the oil burning more

than likely. Could be a snail oil line too.

My mechanic looked for leaks last time in and saw nothing. Don't smell any oil.
