Default It would be a cool test to lower boost for a long trip...

I know I got unheard of mileage on my 200TQ with underboost. I agree that at 0 accleration, lower boost wouldn't be a big issue. However, you do pass and accelerate on a long trip. (you just don't need 250hp/258lb-ft of torque)

Default Boost is provided on a continuum, it is not binary.

Regardless of the maximum boost the turbos can make, they have more states than just 0 boost and max boost. The amount of boost delivered is based on the engine load and the amount of power demanded, i.e., how far and how fast you mash the gas. If you get a boost gauge or VAG and monitor the boost, you will be able to learn to get as much or as little as you want using just the gas pedal.

In general, if you want to minimize boost demand, accelerate as though there is an egg between your foot and the gas pedal that you don't want to break. Just push slowly and gently and you will use little or no boost.

The only reason to get a lower boost chip is if you think you can't restrain yourself. I know I can't restrain myself, but that is the whole reason I got a chip, i.e., so I could enjoy getting slammed back in my seat whenever the occasion arises. I look forward to adding more mods for even greater seat slamming action in the future.

Default That is when your right foot boost controller applies. Boost effectively increases the size of your

engine. Under one bar of boost (where most chips are at) our 2.7s are effectively 5.4 liters - but see how when we are not running boost, we get the efficiency advatanges of a small engine. Keep you foot out of it = low boost = better gas mileage.

I know that a steady 115 mph requires no boost. Have not checked higher.

Does the valet program on the GIAC IBE Chipswitch give you better mileage?

WOW! I guess once we get all this weight moving, these are pretty "slick" car aerodynamically.
