Default MAF questions, Bosch, Hitachi and Bosch RS4

Is there a reason why a tuner cannot tune a A-box with a Hitachi maf? APR and AMS seem to be able use a Bosch RS4 maf on M-box cars with their K04 kits so why can't it be possible to get a A-box to run a Hitachi?

Can the M-box owners with either the AMS or APR K04 kits check to confirm that they do have the Bosch RS4 maf sensor not just the housing only?

Default So are you telling me that when a M-box car wants a K04 kit they have to rewire the sensor?

If it can be programmed to work, I am sure not only myself but almost any A-box owner who has blown a Bosch maf would swap out in a heart beat.

Default my question is why can't it be done when obviously M-boxes can run the Bosch?

AFAIK the RS4 maf responds like the A-box Bosch unit and the Hitachi read 5-0.

Default IMO, you shouldn't mix MAF sensors and housings. --->

A MAF sensor is calibrated to function in the housing (cross section) it was designed for, and, as Eric said, the ECU expects the response curve of its specified sensor. This would require trial and error reprogramming and testing of the ECU.
