Man, the VR4 is a whole different animal than the S4. Not better or worse, just different.

The car is much more vicoral, and not as refined as the S4. I guess that's what I wanted. Lots of steering input from the 245-40-18 tires, and 4WS.
The car is faster up top(stock) than a chipped S4, but down low the S4 wins hands down.
I just ordered boost controller and some other go fast stuff good for 400 HP and 440 torque. Then I'll loose my licence for sure :-)
The car handles beautifully, and the weight is noticable, but not a hinderence. The AWD is excellent and very active, yet smooth. The adjustable suspension and "active airo" is cool too. I like to wag the tale at people :-) It automatically raises the rear wing, and lowers the front lower spoiler after 50 MPH. O and get this, it shift well too, nya nya :-) The clutch pedal is a bit too hard though.
Now, everyone tries to race me or tailgate me. I never had that problem with the S. It's starting to get old. Although it is fun to drop it down a few gears and blast away from those bastards!!!

too much fluff not enough engineering. Sorry, it's a good looking car, but not very safe from a safety perspective and not designed very well. I also don't think it will hold up in the long term. Not meant to wage a war hear, just speaking my opinion. I am excited for you though on the 400 goodies you have in mind. Good luck with it all.

trouble with the supra for sure
You never told me the reason of trading the S4 for another second hand car though

I am not praising Audi for anything they can't do right, but they do build a good car and for the most part when people aren't f'in with the car, they run pretty flawless.
My neighboor has the last years body style Eclipse GT. Nice car, nice paint job, killer stereo by far blows away the Bose system we have, but he's got some horror stories with the dealer not working well with him. I know thye are different all over, but damn, they don't compare to the stories we got on this board that you think might be bad.

This car has 59,000 miles on it, and has the original trans and turbos, and they are still perfect. Also,it has no creaks or rattles,it hauls ***, and has a great, short shifting six speed transmission, made by Getrag.
As for the long run, I've serviced a few with over 125 K on them, and if well maintained, they are still perfect. They are very well built , and their weight is a testement to that. The ones that had tranny problems were caused by abuse. This I know, from a good friend of mine that is a top tech at the local Mitsu dealership.
Not a knock on the S4 or anything, but I just don't feel that car will hold up in the long run. That is one of the reasons I've sold it.
