Man, the VR4 is a whole different animal than the S4. Not better or worse, just different.

practice rebuilding in 10k miles j/k
but seriously I've never seen a 3000GT
with 40k+ miles that did not have a
rebuilt engine...Mitsu engines are **** for reliability. I know a friend of mine was looking at buying a used one here, but all the onces we could find we're either over priced with 30k miles(there were 2 of those we found) or normal price with a rebuilt engine and more than 40k+ miles (and there were at least 10 of those we found) Maybe people around here just don't know what an oil change is, dunno.
Hope you have more luck,
Peter

A 3000GT with 40k miles is a baby. I own the car that mike (fxeditor) is talking about. I am part of a 3000GT/Stealth club and I have NEVER heard of a 3000GT with 40k miles that had a rebuilt engine. My personal car had 120k miles before I did a full motor race build. When the engine was torn apart, we examined it. The only thing wrong with the motor was slightly worn bearings. That's it! I know a few owners with over 200k miles without a rebuild. I bought the car with 78k on it and I have driven it hard and even raced it at Willow Springs. Now I am not saying the car is indestructible.... far from it. The Getrag tranny is not the most reliable when you launch hard. They tend to lose second gear syncro or the output shaft. But that is the only major weakness. The motor itself is VERY reliable.
To the new owner of the VR-4, e-mail me if you have any issues or need any advice on the car. I have some pretty good connections in the 3000GT/Stealth world.... wanna talk power mods?
