I was wondering if anyone knows the range of the MAP sensor? According to the S4 engine self study guide, the output of the sensor will be 2.5V at ambient pressure. If the sensor is linear and operates of 5V power supply, it will saturate at a little bit over 1bar over ambient and the ECU will not know how much more boost there is. So how do all those 1.2bar and more chips work?

If so and its output is 2.5V at atmospheric pressure (1bar), then it will be 5V output at 2bar. Pressure sensors usually have 0.5% linearity.

Many chips spike to between 1.2 & 1.4 bar and the MAP sensor has no problems registering these.

I looked at the Bentley manual and it seems that at idle, the sensor should read 1.9V, and I assume that would be atmospheric pressure. The sensor does run off 5V supply, so indeed it can go to ~2.5bar. I guess the s4 engine study guide is a bit off. I will still want to see the transfer curve though, but I guess I will have to do that myself with the help of the AWE pressure tester.
Thanks for your help
