Obviously he wasn't as modded as you thought or he said. They can be made VERY fast
And considering you're only stage 1 don't think you're the fastest out there. Stock for stock it's a close race. There is a lot of subarus running 10,s 11,s and 12,s. There is a video of a wrx wagon running in the 9's search for it. They don't have the fit and finish of our cars but don't assume theyre all slow cause you raced 3 in your town.

From what I have found, from a dig and lower speeds rolls 20-30mph, they are pretty fast. From a
40mph+ roll, I might as well be racing my grandmothers Buick. STI is a different story though. I raced a few and it was just about even. I would pull like 1 car at most.
