Default Mini Review: DBA 4000 Slotted Rotors & Hawk HPS Pads.

Well, after some proper bedding, and brake break in... I can report back.

It basically feels stock.

The dusting is seemingly non existant.

There's good feel, and modulation close to the point of ABS activation.

My only gripe is there feels like just a bit less bite at moderate peddal application.

Normal braking is great. Heavy braking is nice. Example... when I'm getting off the freeway to a 20mph off ramp. I'll hit the brakes lightly, and then transfer to a medium push. It's that transfer that seems to be lacking slightly in bite. A deeper push of the peddal is responsive and brings the car down nicely. Additionally, from a light push, straight to a heavy push bites nicely.

I have not tried to fade the brakes yet, or smash on them from above freeway speeds.

I think if I were to buy pads again, I would get the next step up, and get something just a touch more agressive. I am quite happy with the rotors.

When I did my brakes, I flushed the calipers. I have not flushed the whole system yet.

Default in regards to the pads, you seem to have the same opinion just posted on the A4 board

Default Hmmm... interesting. Maybe I'll go do a nother heavier bedding process...

I'll go rip a couple of heavy braking, 70 - 5. See if I can get them heated up a bit more.

Default I definitely think I feel more bite than stock pads...

I've used them for 2 track events now (I'm a beginner, so felt the HPS were OK to use, as opposed to going to HP Plus). I've got stock rotors though, but the HPS just feel like they bite better than stock. Enough so that I've noticed it at least...

I'm going to keep them on for my street pads now, and next track event upgrade to a higher-level pad as my track skills improve.

Interesting. That's why I'm gonna do a more agressive bed in...

Default Bed them in to the point of fading. Then they ought to work well.

But plan to re-bed about once a month.

You want to get them just to the point where you can smell them ... and then don't stop! :-)

I think newbies are often harder on brakes than more experienced drivers. :-p
